Yves Saint Laurent, The Famous French Designer

Yves Saint Laurent, the famous French designer and owner of the fashion house which has the same name, is a long and ancient history in the world of fashion, where his designs reflected the modern spirit on the sixties and seventies clothing. Yves Saint Laurent is French, born in 1936 in Oran, Algeria. The signs of love of design have appeared on him since childhood. He loved to design paper dolls and in his adolescence, his favorite hobby was designing clothes for his mother and two sisters.

The real beginning for Yves Saint Laurent was when he participated with three designs in a fashion design contest for the talented in 1953 and won it, and he went to Paris to receive the prize. This was the defining mark of Yves Saint Laurent's life which turned him from a design-loving boy to a beginner fashion designer.

Yves Saint Laurent spent his first year in fashion at Dior's fashion house, even though Dior knew that Yves Saint Laurent was talented, Laurent worked far from the essence of design and limited his role to designing accessories and decorating studios. In 1957, Christian Dior announced that he wanted to make Yves Saint Laurent his successor in fashion design, so Yves Saint Laurent became the main designer of Dior at the age of twenty-one, his success in 1958 was a resounding success, then Yves Saint Laurent was dismissed from work in Dior after his absence and enlisted in the French army in the War of Independence in Algeria.

Yves Saint-Laurent, after returning from military service, decided to establish his own fashion house with his partner “Pierre Berge” in 1962 which became one of the most important fashion houses in France and in the world. Yves Saint Laurent was best known for designing a Smoking or Tuxedo suit for women, which looked extensively like men’s suits. But Yves Saint Laurent is thought to be the first designer to launch a full line of “ready-to-wear” clothes which was a precedent in this era and he gave garments value and prestige. We do not also forget the use of Yves Saint Laurent for black models in his fashion shows, not caring about European beliefs and customs at that time. Since the opening of the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house and the succession of designs and collections, its founder has become increasingly famous and rich, and women around the world flock to buy its designs.

At last, Yves Saint Laurent died in 2008 after the deterioration of his health, leaving a long history talking about him and a fashion house that still carries his name and the elegance of his designs in the capital of fashion Paris.
