World's Ugliest Dog: Zsa Zsa dies two weeks after winning title

Zsa Zsa, the recently-crowned World's Ugliest Dog, has died about two weeks after winning the title.

Her owner Megan Brainard, from Minnesota, posted the sad news on Zsa Zsa's official Facebook page.

The nine-year-old English bulldog, whose lolling tongue and crooked underbite made her the winner back in June, died in her sleep, the post said.

Although her final weeks alive were spent traveling and making television appearances, Zsa Zsa spent over half her life in a puppy mill before she was rescued by a non-profit organisation and adopted by Ms Brainard.

Zsa Zsa, who made international headlines when she won the World's Ugliest Dog competition in San Francisco less about two weeks ago, made headlines again with news of her death.

"We were extremely confident, and that's why we took this big trip here. She's so beautiful — ugly," Ms Brainard said after winning the title against some stiff international competition.
