Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and heads of state and senior representatives from 25 countries, witnessed on Monday the closing ceremony parade of the “Gulf Shield 1” military drills of the Arab Summit in Dhahran, it was the largest parade of its kind in the region in terms of the number of troops and participating countries, as well as the diversity of expertise.
Month-long military exercises wrapped up Monday in Saudi Arabia, Dhahran in the presence of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and the leaders of several countries that took part in the drills. Dubbed “Joint Gulf Shield 1”, the exercises involved tens of thousands of personnel from the land, sea and air forces of 25 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the U.S., the U.K., Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt and Malaysia. The Joint Gulf Shield-1 military maneuvers reflect the importance of military cooperation andcoordination, with friendly countries, in raising the level of combat readiness and ensuring regional security.
