During the launch of the 2018 entertainment calendar at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, Ahmed Al-Khatib, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority said that first opera house in Saudi Arabia will open in Jeddah.
According to a BBC report, Saudi Arabia is planning to invest $64bn country over the upcoming decade in developing the entertainment industry in the country.
This project comes in compliance with Vision 2030, the initiative set by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to diversify the oil-based economy.
The Saudi General Culture Authority will handle the establishment of the new opera house. The project is to be completed around 2022. Al-Khatib said 5000 events across 56 cities in the Kingdom are planned for this year, including entertainment events by Maroon 5 and Cirque du Soleil.
