Gucci Garden opens in Florence inside the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, which is a “gucci museum” with exhibition floors that are conceived by Alessandro Michele.
The floors include a gift and souvenir shop-cum-bookstore, where rare tomes sit alongside arcane fanzines, the second floor is where the archives have been rebooted with an exhibition curated by Maria Luisa Frisa and another floor that has a unique style boutique to exhibit one of a kind gucci items that can’t be found in any other Gucci store. Not to mention, there is a restaurant with the three Michelin starred chef Massimo Bottura that is in charge of Gucci Osteria, where one can recover from the sensory overload with an esoterically designed four-course menu.
“I’m extremely happy,” said Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele. “This is such a beautiful historical place; we tried to give it a sense of vitality. The store is more like a bazaar, a concept which I love; I wanted to convey a spirit of fluidity, of authenticity, of vivacious energy, a place full of life which welcomes you and invites you in. Florence is a very powerful place for Gucci,” he continued. “It’s almost mythical. I wanted to celebrate it, but also to debunk this myth!”
The Gucci Garden will be open to the public for a week with an entry fee of 8 Euros.
