Some people argue that etiquette no longer matters, that the rules for good behavior are old-fashioned and outdated. However, good behavior and manners can never go out of style. Etiquette, like all other cultural behaviors, evolves to match the times. Without etiquette, members of society would show far too much impatience and disrespect for one another, which would lead to insults, dishonesty, cheating, road rage, fist fights, and a rash of other unfortunate incidents. Etiquette is merely a set of guidelines for politeness and good manners, the kindnesses with which we should always treat each other. It will always matter!
Danya AlSaedan, is a Saudi Etiquette trainer that is highly successful in delivering a message through the art of etiquette.
In the beginning, Danya was so passionate to get involved in this field, so she studied the art of Etiquette in addition to her major specialization (Business Administration), she also got a degree in Social Etiquette Consultant from the International Etiquette and Protocol Academy in London, and that's how she became a specialized etiquette trainer.
Etiquette training is considered a new line in the Middle East, and that's why Danya Alsaedan hopes to spread the culture of etiquette in our society and to include it in the educational curriculum at all levels of education. One of Danya's goals is to establish a school or institute in Saudi Arabia that is specialized in etiquette training, especially that etiquette is a new topic that does not fall under any of the usual topics in Saudi Arabia.
Danya has already started this step through social media, she established her own project "Etiquette House", which is a website that offers many workshops, courses, articles and consultations for those interested in etiquette for both genders, and even children are included in some courses since their are a lot of mothers who want to develop the art of etiquette in their kids.
Danya believes that etiquette comes from our Islamic religion ethics, and then it moved to Europe. Etiquette was in our society since the days of the Prophet (peace be upon him), many of the verses and Quranic verses directed us to specific ethics in every situation, even the smallest details of our lives.
She said about etiquette in her media appearance: "There are many common mistakes in our society, the first is in the concept of etiquette, where many believe that this concept is limited only to dining etiquette, but it is a broader concept, and it includes accepting other cultures. We also see a lot, especially during the holiday season and in travelling, which shows Arabs in an undesirable way."
Danya noted that body language contributes in giving the others a positive or negative impression, and that self-confidence which is supported by general etiquette basics give the person a respectful outlook in front of people. She explained that laughing, for example, reflects joy, and one of the rules of etiquette is to maintain your laugh, face movements, and teeth! They are effective more than you imagine, as well as your smile when meeting others.
