Talented Kids And How To Encourage Them!

While we like to think everyone is special, some people have extraordinary abilities — intellectual, artistic, social, or even athletic! Gifted children have advanced natural abilities that are well above the average, compared with children the same age. Although all children are in fact special, but some are simply just born gifted.

If your child is gifted, you might notice her natural abilities in how she learns and how she’s developing. Another simple sign is if your kid prefers talking to older people or grown ups. You’ll usually notice talent from about six years. Sometimes talents show up in older children and teenagers as well.

The parents’ first step is to recognize their child’s unique talent, and after they have identified it then they should focus on making it their child's passion. It should be the child's personal interest and not the parents'.

A direct way to get a formal identification of their capabilities is to take your child for an IQ test.

You can also get a learning needs report. Look for a psychologist with experience in identifying gifted and talented children, or simply even watch them carefully and analyze their actions.

There are different ways to encourage your kids talents and to be a part in bettering their skills. For example; Parents of other gifted children are a great source of information and ideas. Emphasize their encouragements, and make sure that the children’s early talent development is positive, fun and not pushed.

Always provide nurture for your kid's skills. Show interest and attend every major activity to show support. Focus on the talent and make practicing enjoyable. And finally being there for them wither they're succeeding or failing is what will maintain most important!
