It’s a good day for the anti-fur campaigners! We heard it from luxury brands such as, Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren and and now, Gucci. The luxury brand’s chief executive, Marco Bizarri announced on October 12th that the luxury brand will go fur-free and the changes will begin from their spring-summer 2018 collection.

"Being socially responsible is one of Gucci's core values, and we will continue to strive to do better for the environment and animals.” said, Mr. Bizarri.
“It’s a huge game changer in the fashion world” said the Anti-fur campaigners of the move that these high-end brands are making.
Wondering what will happen to Gucci’s best-selling item, the “princetown” loafer? well, it already stopped using Kangaroo fur so nothing would change in its production, said the company. Also, the Italian house will now use faux-fur, wool and new fabric innovations for their items.
Now, Gucci will be part of the Fur Free Alliance, which is an international group of organizations that promote alternatives to real fur in the fashion industry and campaign about animal welfare.
Following this change, Gucci’s real fur items that are still available will be sold at a charity auction with all proceeds going to animal rights organizations, Humane Society International and LAV.
