The Glamorous Chanel Set Closes Paris Fashion Week!

The set for the Chanel show at the Grand Palais in Paris

Designing a set for a fashion show can add to the excitement and elegance of your show. It is important to match the decorations to the general vibes of the fashion show so the audience is not distracted from the fashion, the clothes may come first, but designers are wise to add to the ambiance and enhance their brand identity with a little help from set design.

On Tuesday, the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Karl Lagerfeld presented Chanel's Spring/Summer 2018 collection at the Grand Palais with the amazing set.

The Grand Palais has housed a replica of the Eiffel Tower and a space rocket for recent Chanel show, but this time transformed into the Gorges du Verdon in Provence.

A cliff almost 50 feet high loomed over a river canyon, six waterfalls streaming down its side into a placid green flow, leafy trees and grasses peeked over the edges.

"We have 20 minutes to the convince – not just you in the audience, but everybody watching on social media. It is not about showing how successful we are, it is about the fact that Chanel can take you somewhere else. The experience of a show represents that. When your boss is Mr Lagerfeld, you are very lucky." Bruno Pavlovsky, President of fashion at Chanel.

Last time at Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton talked about "the healing power of flowers" this seemed like Lagerfeld turning up the breeze on that restorative calm of nature.
