We think it is about time for us to talk about the new Fenty Beauty products that Rihanna launched recently. We were on the hunt for these products and finally got a perfect review from our Beauty Director Sarah Altuwairgi: First thing’s first, Rihanna’s line consisted of a face primer, foundations, a universal blotting powder, blotting papers, cream contour & highlight sticks (Matte and shimmery highlighters), Dual powder highlighters, two colored individual highlighters, one beauty sponge, brushes, and a universal lip gloss.
As you probably noticed the line really only focused on skin products, which I think is amazing. Rihanna always has gorgeous skin and I am very happy to see that she wanted her consumers to have equally beautiful skin. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that she launched forty shades of foundations, which consist of many different undertones. Not many make up brands launch that many foundations to begin with. They usually launch a small amount and build up on it. Another thing I enjoyed was that her products were meant to be used in different ways for instance her cream contour and highlight sticks can be used as a blush, cream shadow, concealer corrector and lip stick. The world is your oyster. You have the opportunity to be creative!

The PRO FILT’R instant retouch primer as stated on the bottle is a shine stopping, pore diffusing primer that smooths your skin for better foundation application. What I felt on the other hand when applying this primer is more of a hydrating primer rather than a “pore filling” primer. It made my skin very smooth as stated and very hydrated and ready for foundation.

The PRO FILT’R Soft matte longwear foundation: on the bottle, it states that it is a buildable, medium to full coverage foundation. In my opinion, the foundation is absolutely beautiful for oily to combination skin. It gives a very radiant look and no matter how much you build it up it still looks “Natural”. Dry skin on the other hand, will not look as good. As it says on the bottle it is a matte foundation, which will look kind of dry and cakey on dry skin. I recommend applying a very hydrating face mist before and after applying the foundation and absolutely not powdering your face afterwards if you have dry skin and still want to rock this foundation. Also the foundation I believe can be sheered down to a light coverage look not just medium coverage and also, as is states on the bottle, can be a full coverage foundation. Another thing is a noticed that the foundation did oxidize (gotten a little darker after it dries) so maybe get a lighter color than what you would usually pick foundation.
The MATCH STIX: a make up stick in a longwear, light-as-air matte formula to conceal, correct, contour and touch up. I am absolutely in love with these matchsticks, they range for up to twenty shades and are either sold individually or as trios based on your skin shade (light, medium, dark, deep). What I recommend with these though, is to not apply it directly from the tube because it isn’t creamy enough for that to work, but rather to apply on to a brush or sponge then apply it to the face. It will deliver, in my opinion, the best results.
KILLAWATT highlighters: They are weightless cream-powder hybrid highlighters that range from subtle day-glow to insanely supercharged in solos and paired duos. The dual highlighters are absolutely to die for as is states it has one side that is very subtle and will only deliver a natural skin like glow to the skin, the other side will deliver a very high intense glow that will give the skin an almost wet look. As for the two individual highlighters (Yellow Gold and White Gold) they are very editorial for my taste. They are very glittery, which will look good for camera and film but not so great for a day-to-day look. In my opinion, I like using them more as eye shadows or eyeliners. To apply I recommend using a small brush and dusting them onto the highest points of your face (cheekbones, bridge on the nose, cupids bow and chin) then using a damp sponge, tap over wherever you applied the highlighters, it will melt them into your skin –Trust me on this!
INVISTAMATTE blotting powder and paper: a universal powder that removes shine and diffuses the look of pores for an instant filtered look. If you ask me, a universal powder is non-existent. You can’t apply the same colored powder to a deeper skin tone and expect the same results on a lighter skin tone. The powder was all right and not something worth my money. It delivered what it said (It got rid of the shine) but I did notice it turning gray on me if applied heavily -“universal”? Are you sure?
Brushed & Tools: in the collection, she launched a foundation brush, highlighter brush, mini, travel sized brushes for contour and highlight, and a beauty sponge. I enjoyed the brushes and I believe worked really well in buffing the foundation in, but it wasn’t something I would change my current brushes for. It’s good but not great. As for the beauty sponge, it was the closest thing to a beauty blender for me. It had the exact same feel but the shape was off.

GLOSS BOMB: The ultimate, gotta-have-it lip-gloss with explosive shine that feels as good as it looks- in a one universal shade. At first I was skeptical about this gloss. Universal shade seemed unbelievable. But let me tell you, it is absolutely incredible. For one who doesn’t like glosses, this blew my mind. It is a beautiful rose nude color that really works for everyone. It isn’t sticky or uncomfortable on the lips. It doesn’t seep into the corners of your mouth like how some glosses do .it works on it’s own and as a topper over a lipstick. I can’t say enough good things about this gloss. It is going into my everyday make up bag.
All in all, the products are really good and worth your money it will deliver what you’re looking for – if what you’re looking for is flawless skin. I am very excited for what to come from Fenty beauty in the near future.
