Milan Fashion Week Trend - Socks From The Catwalk

it started at London Fashion Week with Erdem, Burberry and Preen and it's proliferating at Milan Fashion Week: socks are hot with everything. Miuccia Prada, who has perhaps done more than anyone in fashion to promote a sock and ladylike court shoe combo, promoted knee-high anti-DVT-style socks with sandals in her Resort show and continued to plug them for spring, worn with pointy slingbacks and fringed patent loafers and various pocketed nylon shorts. At Gucci, socks had less of a tech edge: brown and ribbed and worn with slide-on slippers, they were almost absent-minded, like their wearer had just stepped out to buy a pint of milk. Fendi's socks had more in common with Erdem and Prada's: sheer and checked, they were the off-beat counterpart to ladylike pencil skirts. Then there's the fishnet brigade, seen at Marco De Vincenzo and one multiple well-heeled feet on the pavements of Milan. As autumn sets in, think of them as part of a handy tights-avoiding tactic til winter starts to bite.
