Click to review

Whether it’s in London’s Soho or New York’s Soho, you ought to see a queue of young people around the block waiting for hours and hours to get there hands on a new pair of Yeezys or a Supreme shirt. Basically whatever Kanye West or A$AP rocky put their hands on.

This is what we call the “hype beast” scene. who are the hype beasts? they are the eager consumers for whatever hyped streetwear is released in a certain week.

Till today, Streetwear labels are still everyone’s favorite, though streetwear designers only make men sizes, but it is still desired by both young men and women. In fact, in recent years, they started making smaller sizes to fit women as well!

Streetwear is being appropriated by high end fashion, it’s known that streetwear is shaped by sneakers, printed T-shirts, hoodies and tracksuit pants and we’ve seen this at the likes of Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent to name a few. But this type of look went viral this year when Louis Vuitton announced their collaboration with the streetwear label Supreme - founded in New York by James Jebbia at nineteen years old.

Since then, many within the streetwear community were thinking, “streetwear and luxury fashion are the same thing.”

Although, streetwear brands only make men sizes, but it is still desired by both young men and women and in recent years, they started making smaller sizes to fit women as well!

When the collaboration was available online, it sold out before even reaching LV’s stores, it’s not only because they are very nice pieces, but also because of their history. What not everyone knows is that Louis Vuitton sued Supreme in 2000 when the brand put the very famous LV double monogram on their skateboards. The order reportedly had Supreme burn all products with the design. Seventeen years later, and the two brands are collaborating! HA!

Although a lot of people in the fashion community were really excited for the collaboration. Virgil Abloh, Off-white’s designer described the collaboration as “the most modern moment in fashion that existed in our time”. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with Virgil. In fact, Supreme’s fanbase reportedly felt betrayed by the collaboration. One fan said, “ I think it’s so stupid. It solidifies supremes place in fashion.” another fan said, “ They started the brand as a rebel against fashion, and now they’ve become it.”
