There is no denying the return of the small-frame sunglasses of the ‘90s and 2000s. The vintage shades have been the glasses of choice for It Girls like Selena Gomez and Bella Hadid for months now, and as they’ve demonstrated, the tinier the better. Hadid may have her peers beat after walking the red carpet at the Christian Dior exhibition launch in Paris on Monday. The Dior spokeswoman wore a sheer black dress by the house and paired it with a pair of Roberi & Fraud sunglasses so small they didn’t fully cover her eyes, because fashion laughs in the face of practicality.
Hadid is a clear fan of the shades, having worn them off the red carpet before, and lending the pair to sister GiGi, who was seen wearing them back in May.
If there’s one person to give Hadid a run for her money, it’d be her model cohort Kendall Jenner, who may have worn the world’s least functional sunglasses this time last year while attending the Odd Future runway show. Jenner, who sat front row next to her brother-in-law Kanye West, wore a pair of yellow-tinted, oval-shaped frames that sat on the middle of her nose, rendering them totally useless when faced with any source of light whatsoever.
While Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner make the small shades trend look daunting, it should be said that there are plenty of sunglasses capable of blocking out the sun, or at the very least, covering your eyes.
